At the gym, they always have the news on the tele, or sports channels. One gym I used to go to, played music videos, but it was the same videos on a loop. Lately, I’ve found that I get really pumped watching “Sex and the City” while I’m on the treadmill or elliptical. Sometimes I also like to watch “Boy Meets World.” I think it has to do with the mood those shows set for me, because sometimes I mute them and listen to my workout playlist, but I just like watching something other than the wall, or the same view outside the window.
Personally, working out makes me feel empowered; it makes me feel strong. I think “Sex and the City” has the same effect on me. You know...independent, career women with fabulous fashion senses, and looking for love just like every other nutter in the world--it just makes you want to take over the world in the most fabulous Manolos, doesn't it? And “Boy Meets World” just puts me in a good mood. I’ve seen all the episodes of both these series, dozens of times, so I can even have a laugh while it’s on mute, and I’m getting my sweat on, on the treadmill.
I think anything that makes me laugh, want to dance and take over the world while I’m on the treadmill is a great workout accessory!
Don’t make working out a chore, make it fun, make it medicine.
