I have to give a huge thanks to my cousin and his girlfriend. I am so grateful to them, because they've let me become a semi-regular guest at their apartment. My life right now consists of a daily juggle between Orange County and L.A., and luckily I live in between; but sometimes having a place to stay in L.A. just saves me so much more time, gas, and money.
It’s truly incredible how much time Southern Californians spend in traffic. Actually, remembering my years in Santa Barbara and San Francisco, I think this is true all over California—but Southern California is especially ugly. I mean, it’s quite ridiculous. I try not to think about how many hours a day or week I spend in my car, and just think of the silver lining in the incredible 405. At least, all the time I spend on the highway, or trying to get across town, is good me time. It’s also a good time to catch up with friends, or other phone calls. I don’t usually like to do business calls in the car, but if I have to, then a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do!
And I was thinking about all this driving the other day, and I thought, “everyone’s going somewhere, everyone’s got somewhere to be, but sometimes we forget to just be, and that’s how we lose our way.” I’ve learned to just laugh at the ridiculous things in life and the things we cannot change--like sometimes taking forty minutes to get across ten miles. So, you can either waste a lot of time in traffic, or make use of it—just don’t text and drive…and in California don’t talk on your phone either, unless you’ve got Bluetooth ;).
BIG LOVE & HUGS
