Whenever someone asks me what the best workout is, I always tell that person, that the best workout is the one you love to do. I mean, why drag yourself through blood, sweat, and tears in misery, when you can drag yourself through blood, sweat, and tears with joy and extra oomph!
Even so, I’ve done a buttload of different workouts, and I can tell you that all of the “best” workouts include similar elements. Add these to your weekly workout routines to really fire up your body:
1) High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) – what is it? Learn more here: http://www.lovejustine.com/4/post/2012/01/hiit-me-with-your-best-shot.html. I highly recommend Turbo Fire’s Greatest HIITS, because it’s the most fun HIIT I’ve ever done, and it’s easy to take with you everywhere, so you can even do it in your hotel room. However, you can create your own HIIT even on the treadmill or doing sprints. Have questions? Just ask moi J
2) Ballet – What do the best and smartest football players and I have in common? We love our ballet! Well, I love it anyways. But yes, even some of the biggest, macho-ist athletes in the world turn to ballet, to strengthen their muscles. Ballet is so great for building long, lean, legs, and a seriously mean core. Those plies and leg lifts are no joke!
3) Strength Training – I used to fear lifting weights, because I was afraid of bulking up. The truth is, girls can’t bulk up. Not naturally anyways. What I learned is that muscle burns fat, and doing high reps with smaller weights helps to just tone your muscles. I rarely lift more than 5lbs when working out, unless I’m lifting my own body weight. I also love using resistance bands for toning, sculpting, and CORE workouts. It feels great to feel strong.
