I think my favorite part of the AMAs was Justin Bieber dragging his mom onstage with him to accept his Artist of the Year Award—so sweet! If I were a seventeen-year-old girl, I probably would have just fallen in love with him. But I’m not, so my gut reaction is to do what Jenny McCarthy did to him—well, I’d skip the groping, but definitely plant one on him like it’s his fourth birthday.
My next favorite moment was when Luke Bryan almost followed the Biebs off stage, before he was supposed to. You could see the country boy in him, excited over this entire night. I enjoyed his acceptance, too. It was a glimpse into the tight knit family that country music is, as he hugged it out with his friends, Lady A, who presented the award to him—an endearing moment for sure.
As for the performances and the awards part…I’m not really sure what to say. I did thoroughly enjoy a few performances, but I think I expected more from certain performers. Also, if we’re all into auto-tune now, why were so many people so off key. I will say though, that I will not watch anything that includes Chris Brown on stage—I think it’s shameful letting him stay in the limelight. Would we let a murderer back on stage? What he did was just as despicable, and I don’t think people should forget it. And I’m sorry but I can’t condone Gangnam Style as music—it’s a complete joke—so yes, I turned the TV off as soon as the finale came on. I mean, it’s definitely not the first time a complete joke of music has blown up as this has, but c’mon people! When it came to the awards though, I think when you have three nominees per category, it says a lot and not enough at all. Either way, congratulations to all the winners—the world clearly still has Bieber Fever, and I’m not going to argue it. The kid is talented! Although I have to say, I do not understand his pants. They’re skinny on the bottom, but then they have a really long crotch as if to give the illusion that they’re baggy, but then they’re not really baggy. I don’t know…
Speaking of fashion…my favorite part! Nikki Minaj was stunning in her lime green dress. It fit her body great, it was loud, but clean and classy; and I loved that she kept her jewelry simple—the black chunky necklace was gorgeous (I think it’s black). As for Miss. Jepson, she’s a cute girl, but the dress didn’t fit her very well—the top part needed some major tailoring. Cyndi Lauper—I love her, always have and always will—can’t say that I always love her style, but I just love that she’s still as weird as ever. Heidi Klum is always gorgeous, but enough with the sky high slits, especially when your dress is already short. I think her dress would have looked better without he slit, but instead it looked like she was trying too hard, and she of all people doesn’t need to try that hard—everyone knows how hot her bod is. Tay Tay’s short dress on the other hand, was a nice change. It was still classy and elegant, but slightly different for her. I’m not really sure how or why Ginnifer Goodwin got invited to the AMAs and was a presenter, but I adore her and I adored her pink, vintage-girly dress. On to a different Ginnifer/Jennifer, Jennifer Morrison’s black gown was stunning—I think sometimes people can get boring with black dresses, but hers was the perfect amount of sexy even with both a low-cut neckline and high slit. No Doubt looked hot, I especially loved their on stage ensembles. Has Gwen Stefani aged at all? And Carrie Underwood did not disappoint either—her purple gown was tres magnifique, and I absolutely loved the little blue ensemble she later changed into! That’s all I’ll get into, as there are too many.
