The Super Bowl commercials are as important and integrated into the whole Super Bowl tradition as is the game, the halftime show, and the parties. Here were some of my favorite commercials:
Doritos – The time machine thing was pretty funny. And Doritos achieved their purpose…I am totally craving a bag of Doritos now.
Bud Light Part 2 – Arnold Schwarzenegger. Gotta love him. When Reagan got into politics, he went on and became president. When Grace Kelly married a prince, she took her Oscar to the palace and shone in a different spotlight. But Arnold, Arnold was our governor and then he just went straight back into acting, and making us laugh.
Beats Music – Ellen Degenerous dancing is always funny. Always good. Always awesome. And she had a bow in her hair. And she was dancing with human size animals.
Cheerios – I like a smart girl who knows how to bargain for what she wants. If you’re going to get a little brother, you better be getting a puppy, too! I wish I was that smart when my brother was born.
Radioshack – the 80’s called and asked for their store back. Bahaha. Mary Lou Retton. Chuckie…forever creepy.
Paramount’s Transformers trailer was pretty awesome. I actually want to go see it.
Steven Colbert for Pistachios Part 1 and Part 2. I don’t know just funny. Part 2 especially. The man doesn't have to do or say much, and he's funny.
Hello! David Beckham in his briefs! This commercial should’ve been ranked the number one commercial of the night!
CarMax slow clap—when the dad let’s go of his kid learning to ride a bike to clap, and the kid falls over. I’m probably not supposed to laugh at that, but I did…
Classic Coke – Singing “America The Beautiful.” For a serious commercial, I really enjoyed this, because I enjoy anything that promotes the beauty of globalization. But apparently this didn’t sit well with folks on Twitter. All I have to say is that that commercial is what America looks like, so anyone who tweeted #speakAmerican, go grow an effing brain, a pair of eyes, and how about a heart while you’re at it.
Pepsi – Get Hyped for Halftime. I definitely felt hyped. Great commercial. I’ve always enjoyed Pepsi commercials.
Okay, Tim Tebow No Contract Part 2 was pretty funny with all those stunts and whatnot. I laughed.
Heinz Ketchup – what a jolly commercial!
Bruce, thank you for the hugfest and spreading the love and care.
And thank you, Budweiser, for the tears. Videos about soldiers coming home always makes me tear up.
The Most Inspirational Commercial Award goes to: Microsoft – Empowering.
