Nicholas Sparks Stories

Nicholas Sparks is a sexist bigot.  No, just kidding. That’s probably not true—I mean, I really don’t know.  But, why is it that in Nicholas Sparks movies, there is always something tragic about the girl, but not the guy?
And as a friend pointed out, why are the characters always white? My friend who pointed the latter out is also “white,” and I just thought it was really funny when she made that comment.  So Mr. Sparks, why does the girl always have to be the weak one?  He should also really get a new poster designer for his movies.  I’ve never read his books, nor have I watched all the movies because just the previews bore me. Of the ones I’ve seen though, there’s only one movie I actually like—“The Notebook.”

I am however, looking forward to his new film “Safe Haven,” with Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel, because the storyline involves abuse.  I just hope the movie doesn’t romanticize abuse, and that it illustrates in some way the seriousness and ramifications of the issues surrounding abusive relationships.

We'll see...
