My infatuation with Ellie Goulding’s music is a new revelation of mine.  I previously knew a couple of her songs, but I hadn’t paid much attention.  Lately, I’ve just been completely hypnotized and mesmerized by her voice, that I can’t even remember what it was that finally turned my head to her.
A couple minutes past midnight, I downloaded her new album, and I’m currently previewing it as I’m writing this.  So far, it’s just as magical as I expected it to be.  I really love that she begins the album with just her naked voice.  It’s a great intro, a real draw, kind of like when a really good book starts off with a somewhat vague and pristine mysteriousness.

I find her sound inspiring.  It definitely has pop influences, but there’s a raw folky element that underlies the futuristic pop production.  There is even a bit of classical flavors.  Above all, nothing overpowers her voice--her voice is the driving force.  As I'm listening to these songs, I kind of feel like I’m travelling through kaleidoscope pastures of a magical land where the air is pink.  And no, I’m not high.  I’m in utter fascination.  Her soft voice reminds me of goose-feathered pillows and cotton candy.  It’s vulnerable and yet, untouchable.  I love it.  That’s all there is to it.  I love her music.  It's art.

I’ve not even finished listening to this album yet, but I can already tell you this and her last album “Lights” are the best album purchases I’ve made this year—of all genres combined.
