Kylie Minogue Abbey Road Sessions

Kylie Minogue’s “The Abbey Road Sessions” is a fabulous album for everyone’s ears.  It was released just a few months ago, in October of 2012, and serves sort of as a different kind of greatest hits album.  2012 also happened to be Kylie’s 25 anniversary of being a star in the industry.

Even if you’re not a fan of her pop tunes, you’d be surprised how even some of her cheesiest hits have been redone into incredibly beautiful pieces.  She retains that squeaky 80’s quality to her voice, which separates her from everyone else, because no one sounds like her--not even Madonna who used to also have a squeaky 80's voice.  However, "The Abbey Road Sessions" takes you on a stripped down emotional journey.  All the songs on the album are either arranged with an orchestra or acoustically, and in stripping down her famous pop ditties, Kylie reveals an even more sultry side of herself.

I’ve loved her from “The Loco-Motion” (slightly older than I am!) to “Can’t Get You Out of My Head,” but now I love her even more.  She’s always been a great performer, but I think after 25 years she’s finally proven herself to be a great and genuine artist.

I think my favorite remake on the album is “Better the Devil You Know,” but I really love the entire album.  There’s not a song I don’t love.  Some I love more than the pop versions; and of some of the pop versions that I did care for, I actually do love now.

Check it out for yourself.  If you love great music, you’ll love this.  Besides, I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything recorded in Abbey Road that doesn’t sound brilliant.

BIG LOVE & HUGS

Love,

Justine
