Cool Find:  Waze

Waze has got to be one of the AWESOMEST, most useful apps EVER.  I finally started using it after a couple friends raved about it.  It is one of the most efficient, if not most, GPS systems--it talks to you, it takes into account traffic, warns you of cops ahead, of accidents, and even red light cameras.  By taking into account traffic, it truly takes you through the quickest route to get to your destination--I mean, I have seen parts of LA I never knew existed.  If you live in a city like LA, I highly recommend you download this app ASAP.

I stopped using it for a few days, thinking that it wasn't really making my commute to work shorter...boy was I wrong!!

There are a few down falls though, but I think the overall effectiveness is still worth it.  Here are some things you should just be aware of:

  1. Sometimes it is not quick enough at instructing you to turn and whatnot, but it will adjust itself.
  2. If you have GPS in your car, I would keep it turned on to better see a map laid out in front of you without having to risk looking down at your phone for the unfamiliar street names--the app's voice has a strange way of pronouncing things.  It once told me to turn right on "Regina Ave," which we pronounce Reh-gee-nah down here.  I heard something totally different and totally inappropriate.
  3. Probably my biggest concern is that the app appears to operate by other "Wazers" reporting traffic, cops, red light cameras, accidents, etc.; but that worries me if they're all driving, too!  I can't say I'm entire sure of how that works, because I do not like looking down at my phone whilst driving.  If that's the case though, it's quite concerning...
  4. It's best to keep your phone charging in the car while using Waze, because it will eat your battery up.

    Safe travels everyone!
